From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Cast members including Margot Robbie, Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt posed together on the red carpet, looking every part the glamorous Hollywood trio that they are.
Robbie chose a burn orange Grecian-inspired gown by Oscar de la Renta for the evening, while DiCaprio and Pitt arrived looking suited and booted in black ensembles.
Elsewhere, Girls actor and writer Lena Dunham packed a punch in her red carpet look: a custom 16Arlington gown that featured billowing orange and crimson plumes.
Several British stars were in attendance too, including actors Damian Lewis and Simon Pegg and model Lottie Moss, whose black PVC gown offered a sophisticated twist on the humble bin bag.
The critically acclaimed film by Quentin Tarantino, who was also in attendance on Tuesday, is already out in the US and will arrive in British cinemas on 14 August.
The UK premiere comes one week after the equally starry Los Angeles premiere, at which Robbie wore a white floor-length gown by Chanel.
