From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. The Jealous singer was awarded the title after fans voted in a poll on the magazine’s website, with the majority choosing him from a list of 64 others that included Ryan Reynolds, John Legend and Jeff Goldblum.
He was praised by the magazine for his “under-the-radar” but finessed aesthetic, with a recent highlight being his wedding to actor Priyanka Chopra, which was described as a “never-ending fashion show” thanks to the musician’s numerous outfit changes.
Jonas made a number of seamless transitions on the day, from custom-tailored suits into traditional Indian garments in honour of his new wife’s heritage.
He was also lauded for his ensemble at May’s Met Gala, largely hailed as the fashion event of the year, where Jonas wore a three-piece suit from Dolce & Gabbana’s super swish haute couture line, Alta Sartoria.
But it’s not just on fancy occasions when Jonas gets it right.
“The man looks sharp as s*** running errands, and on the right side of casual when he’s doing press,” adds GQ.
When he’s off-duty Jonas can be seen wearing slim-fitting trousers, bomber jackets and plain T-shirts.
“If anything, Nick here serves as a reminder that down-the-middle style doesn’t have to be basic or simple – that, when it’s well-executed, dressing like regular dude can be the most stylish thing on the whole damn planet,” the magazine adds.
Jonas responded to the news on Instagram, telling his 19.4 million followers that he was “really happy to finally be recognised for this tireless commitment to being stylish” and urging his fellow nominees to “keep up the good work”.
In order to fully illustrate the extent of his style trajectory, the former Jonas Brothers member posted a childhood photograph and a series of six recent snaps showing him in his fashion prime.
“To the fans all over the world who voted for me please know I don’t take this honour lightly,” he continued.
“I will wear this stylish crown with pride in my heart, all while in my well tailored ‘fits’.
“Happy holidays everyone, and above all... Stay stylish.”
Chopra was rather pleased with her husband’s win too, uploading a candid selfie of the two of them on Instagram, writing that she was “honoured to be kissing the most stylish man on the planet”.
