Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

In fashion terms, there seem to be no personalities further apart than reality TV star Kim Kardashian and the deceased designer Alexander McQueen -- however, they both top this week's Polyvore rankings in their respective categories. Plus: online shoppers go for jewelry and boyfriend shorts right now.

There's a lot of movement in the brands section this week, caused by the ongoing fashion weeks and Polyvores using the various showcases as inspiration. Alexander McQueen, however, whose sales have risen by more than a thousand percent since his death, stays steady in popularity at the number one spot, and his website has entered the Top Sites ranking at #3.

Other than that, jewelry remains a favorite in online shopping with langantiques.com and alexisbittar.com entering the top ten. Musthaves.dk experienced a boost through Copenhagen fashion week, but the most stable among all websites stays net-a-porter.com, even though it loses two places this week.

Kim Kardashian, now with her own fashion line for bebe, which she premiered at New York fashion week, remains the most popular celebrity, serving as inspiration for countless collages. Models Jessica Stam and Anja Rubik follow on her heels, and Gemma Ward re-enters. Both Stam's and Ward's popularity are in tune with a growing preference for not-too-skinny models (see also Coco Rocha, Lara Stone).

Boyfriend shorts rocketed from #10 to #1 this week, even though editors are still divided over whether or not to embrace the trend.
