Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. The V&A has this morning announced that for the first time ever it will be open throughout the night for visitors wanting to see the Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty exhibition.
Round-the-clock admissions will run for the final two weekends to accommodate the demand for visitors wanting to see the exhibition before it closes next month.
With all pre-bookable tickets sold out, the move which amounts to another 12,000 tickets has been made to ensure all those wanting to see the exhibition will have the opportunity over the next few weeks.
Night tickets will be available to book for visits from Friday 24th July to 10pm on Sunday 26th and again the following weekend from Friday 31st July to the close of the exhibit on Sunday 2nd August at 11pm.
345,000 people have visited the exhibition which examines the work of visionary British designer Alexander McQueen, since it opened in March, making it the most visited exhibition at the museum for a decade.
“We knew that Savage Beauty would be very popular, but the response has been even greater than we imagined. It is an extraordinary exhibition and I urge anyone who has not yet visited, wherever they are in the world, to make a trip to the V&A to experience this very special show." commented Martin Roth, Director of the V&A.
"It is not going on tour to other venues so our aim is to provide as many people as possible with the opportunity to see it by opening through the night for the last two weekends. This will be the first time we have opened the V&A around the clock and we certainly think it is an event worth getting out of bed for.”
