From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Dylan Penn, the daughter of Robin Wright and Sean Penn is the latest celeb off-spring to make a name for herself in the modelling industry.
This campaign for Ermanno Scervino is not her first assault on the fashion industry; she's appeared in a campaign for Gap and Stuart Weitzman and has also appeared on the cover of L'Officiel Italia.
Penn is described by the brand as an "American beauty."
“Young, glamorous and international: Dylan expresses all the fundamental values of the Ermanno Scervino DNA. Looking forward to her future, conscious of where she comes from.”
“Dylan is a young, beautiful woman, conscious of her background and close to her family but also very independent and determined to succeed in her own professional career."
Penn's career ascent comes on the back of year which has seen models such as Kendall Jenner (of Kardashian/Jenner family fame), Hailey Baldwin (daughter of Stephen Baldwin), Rafferty Law (Jude Law's son) and of course the Beckham boys all take to the spotlight in advertising campaigns, catwalks and magazine covers.
Penn is honest about the benefits of her family name, she told WWD:
“I know that my last name plays a huge part in getting certain jobs,I’m not oblivious to that fact. But I don’t think I would be hired for things if I was really wrong for the part. I also think a lot of it depends on personality, vibe, clicking with that designer, that crew or whatever.”
