From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The actress took to the stage to present a clip from the upcoming Pitch Perfect 2 film, but it was her outfit that did all the talking.
Dressed in giant white angel's wings, an embellished bra and leather pants with the slogan 'think' on the bum - no prizes for guessing Wilson's outfit inspiration.
Backstage she explained her motivation to People:
“I think one of the good messages in the movie [Pitch Perfect 2] is that you’re all beautiful" she explained.
"I think sometimes girls look at Victoria’s Secret models and think that they have to model themselves after that, but I really don’t think that’s the best, even though they are called ‘models,’ they're not the best people to model yourself after."
"I like to encourage girls to think, which is why I put that on my butt. It’s really about what’s up here [points to head], and not whats here [points to backside].”
Wilson's message has been echoed in recent weeks elsewhere in the industry with plus-size retailer Lane Bryant taking aim at Victoria's Secret with its new campaign 'I'm No Angel'.
