From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Kim Kardashian West is never one to shy away from self promotion, especially when it comes to posting images of herself on social media.

Her latest posts which feature her posing in a fur bikini have landed her in hot water with Peta.

Kardashian West shared a number of images from her Instagram account yesterday which showed the reality TV star posing in the snow wearing what she captioned a 'furkini' and 'boots with the fur.'

Whilst it is not confirmed whether the bikini and boots are real or faux fur, animal rights organisation Peta were quick to condemn the images tweeting from its social media account:

"Sad someone so beautiful chooses to create such an ugly legacy" - Peta SVP Dan Mathews.

The images were taken by Kardashian's rapper husband Kanye West.

It's not the first run in the star has had with the organisation. Earlier this year she was criticised for images shared of her interacting with dolphins which Peta argued can become "injured and anxious as a result of constant poking and prodding."

She was also caught out in 2012 when an animal rights campaigner covered the star in flour at a red carpet event.

The incident resulted in her sister Khloe Kardashian publically cutting ties with Peta despite the organisation denying they were involved in the incident.

In 2011 Peta erected a billboard in Beverly Hills which depicted Kim's image and baby foxes with the text "Kim: These babies miss their mother. Is she on your back?"
