From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

As if one major red carpet event isn't enough, Oscars night also sees a number of glitzy parties with guestlists even bigger than the Academy Award's.

Whilst the Oscars sees many of the stars playing it safe in the sartorial stakes, when it comes to the after parties there's an anything goes attitude.

The Vanity Fair party was the hot ticket of the evening with most of the attendees also putting in an appearance - plus many more who hadn't managed to wangle a ticket to the main event.

Whilst the Oscars red carpet was rather demure with relatively little skin on show, the after parties was a whole other story with the likes of Rita Ora, Irina Shayk and Gigi Hadid all opting for risque looks.

Rita Ora chose a custom gown by Donna Karan which except for a strategically placed panel at the back showed off most of her derriere.

Supermodel Irina Shayk wore a very similar design by Atelier Versace, Shayk's featured a sheer panel which moulded round the bust and down her legs for a very revealing outfit that left no room for wardrobe malfunctions.

Many of the nominees opted for a wardrobe change including Felicity Jones who changed into a sleek halterneck gown by Saint Laurent. Emma Stone swapped her beaded Atelier Versace gown for a vintage-style red metallic dress by Altuzarra.

Jennifer Lopez went for an equally jaw-dropping dress, this time by Zuhair Murad. Keira Knightley went for a sleeker second gown in a black velvet look also by Valentino.
