From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The new campaign features veteran models Violetta Sanchez, Pat Cleveland and Kirsten Owen alongside their daughters Luz Godin, Anna Cleveland and Bille Rose Owen.
French fashion house Lanvin, has a long history of celebrating mother-daughter relationship which dates back to the label's roots in 1889 when Jeanne Lanvin's clothes created for her daughter led to the formation of the label, first focusing on childrenswear before moving onto outfitting mothers.
Lanvin's daughter remained her muse and even the brand's logo pays homage to her featuring an illustration of a mother and daughter.
Violetta Sanchez opened the brand's spring/summer 2015 catwalk show, she appears again in this new campaign alongside her 15 year old daughter Luz Godin.
Kirsten Owen also walked in the show and features alongside her daughter Billie Rose. Finally legendary supermodel Pat Cleveland stars alongside her daughter Anna.
The campaign imagery which features the models dressed in identical outfits, was shot by renowned photographer Tim Walker.
For menswear Lanvin has stuck to the family theme and has cast siblings to star in the campaign.
This campaign comes in the wake of high profile fashion campaigns embracing diversity and featuring older women including Joan Didion for Celine and Joni Mitchell for Saint Laurent.
