From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Kristen Stewart, Vanessa Paradis and Alice Dellal all appear in separate imagery for the spring/summer 2015 campaign.
The black and white images, shot by Karl Lagerfeld show the women each with a different Chanel bag - the 11.12, the Boy and the Girl bags.
Stewart poses with the iconic 11.12 handbag, dressed in a silk crepe suit. She reprises her role for the brand after becoming the face of the 2013 Metiers d'art Paris-Dallas collection.
“It always felt like a privilege to wear Chanel and to be around Karl who is an artist that, for me, constantly inspires” she comments.
Dellal is pictured in an oversized suede shirt with the Boy bag - a bag she has been the face of since it first launched in 2012.
“Before I was introduced to CHANEL’s Boy bag collection in 2012, I was not a bag enthusiast. Since discovering the Boy I have found it a permanent fixture in my wardrobe" Dellal says.
Lastly Paradis, one of the longest serving faces of the brand. Paradis is captured naked except for a pearl necklace and a Chanel Girl bag.
“Before I was introduced to CHANEL’s Boy bag collection in 2012, I was not a bag enthusiast. Since discovering the Boy I have found it a permanent fixture in my wardrobe" Lagerfeld comments on Paradis.
