From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

She might not be known for her fashion sense, but the former Secretary of State, senator, first lady and potentially presidential candidate seems to have quite a fanbase in south-eastern Europe.
The store, fittingly named Boutique Hillary, sells a rainbow of tailored suits, skirts, trousers and blazers, all inspired by the classic sartorial tastes of Clinton.
The shop is on a road called Bill Clinton Boulevard, which has a 10-foot-tall statue of the former president of the United States to honour him for his help in ending the conflict with Yugoslavia during the Kosovo War in the late 1990s.
A parade of mannequins can be seen modelling the tailored combos and dresses that encourage customers to mimic Clinton’s style. However, the most popular item in the store is the bright red pantsuits.
In 2010, Clinton paid a visit to the boutique during her Balkan tour. She was warmly welcomed by locals from all over Kosovo and the Balkans region who flock to the shop to meet and greet the iconic politician. The pleased owners of the shop gifted her with the second most popular item of the store, a navy suit.
Since then, the boutique has become so popular that it has expanded to the opening of a second shop.
As if the big “Hillary” sign on the shop front wasn’t enough, two photos of Clinton hang above the dressing rooms.
Store owner Besian Morina told Yahoo Travel: “We respect her name and her personality here…Our clothes are modelled after her own fashion.
“Since she visited here, we are even more popular and we have been able to expand into another room. We thank her very much for that.”
