Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

So it’s no wonder that the band’s most foppish member has managed not only to infiltrate the prestigious British Fashion Awards, but to take one home, too.

Harry Styles was voted the winner of the British Style Award at the event in London yesterday, beating David Beckham, Kate Moss, the Duchess of Cambridge and alleged former flame Cara Delevingne to take the title.

The prize, which “recognises an individual who most embodies the spirit of London and is an international ambassador for London as a leading creative fashion capital”, had previously been won three times in a row by Styles’ suitably fashionable friend, Alexa Chung.

Accepting the trophy from Chung and Jack Guinness, he kept his speech short, simply thanking his fans for voting and adding: “This is very, very kind.”

Other winners included Kate Moss, who won the Special Recognition award, Christopher Kane, who won the Womenswear Designer of the Year award and Miuccia Prada for Prada, who won the International Designer of the Year.
