From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Brazilian model shared a behind-the-scenes picture with her Instagram followers earlier this week.
In the image Gisele is pictured running along a beach with a surfboard in hand.
But as this is a high fashion campaign, not any surfboard would do so Gisele's bares the distinctive CC logo of the legendary French house.
Gisele captioned the image with:
"So excited to introduce a behind the scene picture of my next campaign for @chanelofficial. #chaneln5 #theonethatiwant"
It was announced earlier this year that Gisele would be taking over from Marilyn Monroe as the new face of the iconic Chanel No.5 fragrance.
Chanel are famous for pulling out all the stops for its adverts; this newest one has reportedly been directed by Baz Luhrmann who also worked on the iconic Moulin Rouge-inspired Nicole Kidman advert.
Other famous Chanel adverts include Keira Knightely's motorbike escape and Audrey Tautou's train journey.
