From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Paris Fashion Week is drawing to a close today but before the city goes back to some semblance of normality the stars were out in force last night for the CR Fashion Book party.

The party is a bi-annual event hosted by ex-French Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld to launch the fifth issue of her self-titled fashion magazine.

The guestlist read like a who's who in fashion with a impressive array of celebrities in attendance; the Kardashian clan and Selena Gomez made an appearance, models including Gigi Hadid and Joan Smalls attended and designers Karl Lagerfeld and Ricardo Tisci took a break from their showrooms to attend.

E! reports that Kim Kardashian, Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid got on stage to serenade the fashion editor who celebrated turning 60 earlier this month with a rendition of Happy Birthday.

And the all important dress code for the event which was held at The Peninsula hotel was 'inspired by Carine,' no modesty there of course.

Practically, that meant all black ensembles with necklines hovering somewhere around belly button level.

Issue 5 of the magazine has already hit the headlines with features that include Beyonce's poem to her daughter, a modelling debut from North West and Conchita Wurst posing with Karl Lagerfeld.
