Thousands of artists, vendors, manufacturers and makeup fans will be on site when the International Makeup Artist Trade Show opens its doors. The looks from movies, musicals and other spectacles will be recreated and some of the most in-demand makeup artists from around the world will compete against each other on stage. The same event is also staged in Los Angeles, Sydney, Toronto, and Vancouver over the course of the year.

Beautyworld
January 30 - February 1
Frankfurt, Germany

Germany's largest beauty industry gathering will be shortened to three days in the new year and present the key beauty trends for 2010 in a more compact setup, with visitors' reported favorites being natural products, wellness and spas, and anti-aging. The Messe Frankfurk organizes the same event in Japan, the Middle East, India, and Argentina.

The Makeup Show
February 28 - March 1
Los Angeles, USA

The Makeup Show is dedicated to community building and "artistic energy," examining cosmetic applications of technique and style, featured during several days of hands-on workshops, seminars, and presentations. The New York edition of the event will take place May 16-17.

L'Oréal Professionnel Colour Trophy

The Colour Trophy awards were introduced in 1954, making them the longest-running hairdressing competition in Britain and one of the most respected worldwide. They have evolved from a small hairdressers' trade event to the country's biggest gala of the industry and now include the Regional Finals, the Men's Image Award and the Young Colourist Award.

New York Perfume Expo

More than 300 fragrance companies will exhibit at the Perfume Expo, taking place at New York's Jacob Javits Center. Highlights include workshops in perfume creation and a museum of fragrance history. Unlike many other beauty fairs, this one is open to the public on selected days.

Fifi Awards

The 'Oscars' of the US Fragrance Foundation have a 37-year-long history and are also celebrated in Germany ('Duftstars,' ), France ('Grand Prix du Parfum,' awarded in collaboration with Marie Claire magazine), Italy (together with the 'Accademia del Profumo,' the Italian fragrance foundation), Spain, and the UK.

Being the largest hairdressing event in the southern hemisphere, the Hair Expo at the Sydney Convention Centre gives visitors an update on cutting, coloring and extensions, but also on tanning and nail products. There will be live demonstrations on the 'Action Stage,' and the best coiffeurs of Australia and New Zealand will be honored at the closing event, the Schwartzkopf Professional Hair Expo Awards.
