From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

New York Fashion Week rarely goes ahead without attracting some form of controversy and more often than not it focuses on the models that take part in the shows. This season, however model Ashley Graham is leading the way with a catwalk show featuring curvy models.

Graham staged the show in New York which showcased her lingerie designs for plus size retailer Addition Elle.

The size 16 model took the runway herself alongside an array of curvy models all decked out in Graham's designs.

The show was broadcast worldwide on Periscope and viewers were encouraged to get involved by tweeting with the hashtag #IAmSizeSexy.

Graham has been pioneering the progress in the fashion world to embracing a more diverse array of models.

Graham was the first plus-size model to appear in Sports Illustrated magazine and she also hit headlines earlier this year with her own version of the controversial 'Beach Body Ready' Protein World advert.

The 27-year-old American model is best known for being the face of plus size retailer Lane Bryant including taking part in their inspirational #I'mNoAngel lingerie campaign.

Graham has also appeared on the cover of Elle Quebec and appeared in Vogue, Harper's Bazaar and Glamour magazines.

Earlier this week New York Fashion Week models hit the headlines when social media users complained about the size of the models who took part in the Victoria Beckham show.
