From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Andreja Pejic made her runway debut last night at London Fashion Week, following gender reassignment surgery last year.

Famous for her androgynous style, the model was formally known as Andrej but following the procedure last summer, now identifies as Andreja.

Pejic made her return to the catwalk last night at the Giles show which saw her walk alongside an impressive cast that included Anna Cleveland, Erin O'Connor, Edie Campbell and Lily Donaldson.

Pejic shared her excitement with followers on Instagram sharing an image of herself on the runway commenting:

"It feels amazing to be making my runway debut for one of my favourite British designers #Giles Thank you to @kegrand and @guineapiggiles #thereturn #LFW"

The 23 year old, Bosnia and Herzegovina born model rose to fame in 2010 when Carine Roitfeld who was then editor of French Vogue, featured her in a womenswear editorial shoot.

Pejic made numerous runway appearances for both men's and womenswear shows for the likes of Jean-Paul Gaultier and Marc Jacobs.

Pejic spoke openly last year about her sex reassignment surgery to People:

"About a year and a half ago, I reevaluated things, I was proud of my gender nonconforming career. But my biggest dream was to be comfortable in my own body. I have to be true to myself and the career is just going to have to fit around that."

"I was happy the moment had come – as happy as you can be before a surgery."

Pejic is set to make her acting debut later this year in Sofia Coppola's adaptation of The Little Mermaid.
