Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Used for the very first time in a fragrance, the flowery note will be joined by pear blossom, peony, midnight blooming jasmine, curaçao, bergamot, musk, and Madagascar vanilla to make up the composition of the scent.
"Pulse is a fragrance you can wear all the time," Beyoncé told People magazine. "I love the idea of a signature scent that lets a woman leave her mark wherever she goes, so I always try to make my scents appropriate for any occasion."
Explaining the perfume's name, she told Elle: "Pulse represents the woman I am on stage. When I think about excitement, it makes me think about my heart racing and a pulsating beat - it's my stage persona."
The fragrance will be bottled in an upside-down chrome-and-blue flacon, inspired by Beyoncé's stage outfits. A print ad photographed by Lionel Gasperini and a TV commercial by Jake Nava - director of the singer's "Single Ladies" music video and the Heat fragrance commercial - are soon to be released.
Pulse will be Beyoncé's third fragrance after Heat and Heat Rush.
