From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The countdown to Christmas is on; with a mere 53 sleeps to go till the big day it's that time of the year again, when all the big brands and retailers release festive themed ads, hoping to tempt us to part with our cash.

First up is Mulberry who released their annual Christmas film this morning, and it's not exactly what one would expect from the luxury handbag retailer.

The tongue-in-cheek ad features a young couple moving into a new country home on Christmas eve, the man gives his girlfriend a gift - a Bayswater bag. Shortly after opening it the couple are joined by a host of local visitors who all come to admire the Christmas gift.

The very modern day take on the Christmas story is intended "to bring a smile to everyone's face and dramatise the pleasure of giving Mulberry at Christmas" the brand explains.

The ad was creating by ad agency Adam & Eve DDB who also famous for creating the now iconic John Lewis festive ads.

To celebrate the film Mulberry is giving website visitors a chance to win their own Mulberry bag, visit mulberry.com to find out more.
