From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

But just when you thought you’d seen it all, someone goes and launches an entire range of Minnie Mouse inspired high-heels.
Whether you’re a hardcore Disney fan or not, this pair of shoes guarantees to appeal to your inner 8-year-old self.
Subtly designed, what initially looks like a standard heel in the front transforms into a wistful trip down memory lane in the back.
Sold by shoe label Oscor Tiye and designed by Italian designer Muaddi, the heels have been cleverly crafted into two styles so customers can choose between a high stiletto and a low-heeled sandal.
Released as part of the brand’s spring/summer 2017 collection, they’re also available in a range of colourways.
From goes-with-everything black to all-over glitter gold, denim blue and gold and red, there really is a style to suit everyone.
But, they come with a catch.
Unfortunately, the adorable shoes will set you back anywhere between £415 and £690 depending on which option you choose.
Causing a frenzy on social media, Tiye’s Instagram page has been inundated by Disney fanatics since sharing images of the range with one post racking up more than 3,000 likes.
“I have to get these! My husband and I got married in Disney World,” one person wrote.
Another added, “I've been tagged on all social media sites by at least 15 pals for these shoes.”
