Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Miley Cyrus has collaborated with Marc Jacobs to release a pink hoodie that benefits Planned Parenthood.

Cyrus shared photos of the limited-edition $175 (£137) sweatshirt, which features a picture of the singer on the front with the slogan “Don’t f*** with my freedom,” on Instagram, where it has since been liked more than a million times.

The back of the hoodie reads “Miley Cyrus x Marc Jacobs” and “The Charity Hoodie Marc Jacobs” is printed on the sleeve.

All proceeds from the sweatshirt, available on the Marc Jacobs website, will go to Planned Parenthood.

The pop star captioned the photos: “DON’T F*** WITH MY FREEDOM” and tagged Planned Parenthood, Marc Jacobs, and her non-profit organisation the Happy Hippie Foundation.

Earlier in the day, Cyrus teased the collaboration with a photo of herself licking a cake that read: “Abortion is healthcare.”

The “Nothing Breaks Like A Heart” singer had announced in the caption that a “very special collab” was coming soon and that #WomensRightsAreHumanRights.

The collaboration comes as Planned Parenthood continues to fight on behalf of legal access to abortion in multiple US states.

This is not the first time Cyrus has supported Planned Parenthood - in 2016 she collaborated with Marc Jacobs and Marilyn Winter to create a portrait series, with all proceeds from the 50 prints benefiting the women’s health care organisation.
