From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The old adage “two heads are better than one” has never been proved to be more true than at tonight’s Met Gala 2019?

Don’t believe us? Just take a look at actor Jared Leto who turned up in custom Gucci carrying a replica of his own head as a clutch bag.

Aside from Leto, several celebrities have rocked the pink carpet with their other halves.

Actors Cole Sprouse, Lili Reinhart, Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter are just a few of the fashion elite who have been spotted on the red carpet with their significant others.

Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth celebrated the Met Gala together, making it the first time the newlyweds, who married in December at an intimate vegan-inspired ceremony, wearing Saint Laurent.

Meanwhile, tennis champion Serena Williams was seen walking the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s famous steps with husband Alexis Ohanian wearing a pair of matching Virgil Abloh Off-White Nike trainers in neon yellow which contrasted perfectly with her beau’s white and black tuxedo.
