From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Forty-one-year-old one-woman show Jennifer Lopez graces the cover of People magazine's annual "Most Beautiful" issue and is joined by the likes of Sandra Bullock, Eva Longoria, and Reese Witherspoon inside the issue.

It is striking that mature actresses are ruling over People's list, a trend that could already be observed when 42-year-old Julia Roberts made the front page.

The men's roster, on the other hand, almost exclusively features twenty-somethings such as Zac Efron or Kellan Lutz, with the only exception being Ryan Reynolds, who is 34.

In an interview with the magazine, Lopez admitted that her looks were due to a relentless regime: "I don't want anybody thinking it's easy," the current American Idol judge said. "It does take time and it's hard work. HDTV wide-screen is nobody's friend!"

However, she added that she likes to go low-key whenever she can: "Just being able to touch my face and rub my eyes and put my fingers in my hair and not having to worry about messing it up. It's so much better."

The "Most Beautiful" issue hits US newsstands on April 15.
