Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

According to Metro reports, Allen is currently followed by camera crews as she establishes her own vintage shop in London's West End called Lucy in Disguise, a project she launched together with her sister, Sarah Owen.
A Channel 4 spokeswoman told the paper: "It is happening. The name and how many shows there will be is still undecided. It is due to go out early next year."
Allen's show will go head to head with TV star Dannii Minogue's fashion reality show about her new life as a fashion designer, launching a line called Project D.
Meanwhile, the fifth season of Britain's Next Top Model - hosted for the first time by supermodel Elle Macpherson - premieres in the UK on July 5.
In the US, the second season of MTV's The City, which follows aspiring fashion designer Whitney Port and her associates, premieres April 27, which seems like perfect timing given that the equally popular Project Runway's seventh season just wrapped up April 22, announcing Seth Aaron Henderson as its cycle winner.
