With Spring 2010 collections in New York, London, Milan, and Paris over, the new fashion scene of Los Angeles gears up for its Fashion Week-or weeks. Los Angeles-based designers Max Azria and Randolph Duke were joined by LA's Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa to announce the Emerging Fashion Angels Awards and the numerous events of LA Fashion Week-October 12-20.
Designers will throw splashy galas from downtown to Beverly Hills and Hollywood, starting as soon as October 8 and continuing through the 31st. Launching the fun, Sue Wong reveals a sneak peak at her Spring 2010 at a private invite-only presentation on October 8. Sjobeck in Malibu does the same on the 10th.
Runway shows are certain to attract a coterie of Hollywood celebrities seeking cutting-edge, high-end designs by new up-and-comers. Parties will include the Hollywood Life Style Awards on October 11 with appearances by Jessica Biel, Emily Blunt, Janet Jackson, Cindy Crawford, and Megan Fox.
The official kick-off to LA Fashion Week happens on October 12 with a series of receptions that feature designers and collections, including Fashion Group International which connects designers and their celebrity muses, such as Halle Berry, Gwen Stefani, Kate Moss, and Natalie Portman, who wear Trina Turk.
Downtown Fashion Week, October 12-20
California Market Center, the hub of the LA's wholesale garment district, holds hundreds of showrooms that connect retailers with upcoming designers and known brands. "Fashion Theater" tradeshow in the penthouse includes Focus" for apparel and accessories, "Transit" for shoes, and a Kids Market.

Rock Fashion Week, Hollywood, Oct 28-31
Gen Art, an organization promoting the synergy between pop music, fashion, film and art, which previously opened LA Fashion Week, has switched to launch Rock Fashion Week at Paramount Studios, joining up with Rock Media and the Hachette Filipacchi media group.
The schedule of meet & greets, special invite-only tickets, runway shows, and showcase events for Spring 2010 collections include Louis Verdad's Louver line, Michel Berandi, Julia Renata, Yotam Solomon, and dozens more at http://fashionweekla.com/
Each evening, parties and benefits will happen, such as the (H)It WEEK showcasing Italian pop culture festival and the Mode Israel party.
