From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

They’re one of Hollywood’s most enduring – and beloved – celebrity couples. Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn started dating on Valentine’s Day 1983 and are still going strong nearly four decades later.

While they may never have married, the actors have son Wyatt, Hawn’s children Kate and Oliver and Russell’s son Boston plus numerous grandchildren and pets.

When asked why they have never tied the knot, Russell, who celebrates his 70th birthday on March 17, told People magazine: “For people like us, the marriage certificate wasn’t going to create anything that otherwise we wouldn’t have.”

Not only are they clearly still very much in love, the pair always look fabulous when they appear on the red carpet together…

Oscars 1999

A vision in Versace at the 1999 Academy Awards, Hawn (who won the Best Supporting Actress gong in 1969) chose a flowing duck egg blue gown with matching shawl and wrist strap bag, accessorised with micro sunglasses, while Russell opted for a classic black tuxedo.

Oscars 2001

Hawn appeared to take inspiration from the Oscars statuette when she donned a beautiful golden beaded gown (and sunnies, again) in 2001. Russell stuck to his signature black tie look.

Baftas 2005

Opting for her go-to designer once more, Hawn was all white on the night at the 2005 Baftas, wearing a low cut sequinned Versace gown. Russell completed the couple’s monochrome look in a timeless tux with slicked back hair.

Poseidon premiere 2006

Showing off a more relaxed red carpet vibe, at the London premiere of Poseidon in 2006 the couple looked adorably loved up. Russell, who starred in the movie, chose a black suit and a blue tie that matched the blue carpet, while Hawn teamed her summery babydoll dress with sparking heeled sandals.

Cannes Film Festival 2007

In another PDA-packed appearance at Cannes in 2007 the couple embraced the Riviera chic look, Russell in jeans and a smart blazer, Hawn in a strappy white dress and bare feet.

Death Proof premiere 2007

The pair put on an ultra glamorous display at the Death Proof premiere in 2007. Russell was dapper as ever in his trademark tux and Hawn coordinated her outfit, opting for a black lace gown with matching clutch and stunning statement necklace.

Oscars 2014

Going for gold at the Academy Awards once more (in fashion terms at least), Hawn chose a champagne shade in 2014 with a silky Versace number, the gown embellished with shimmering beaded sleeves. Updating his usual Oscars attire, Russell wore a slightly more slim cut suit this time around.
