From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Kanye West has teamed up with Gap to launch a clothing line as part of his Yeezy fashion label.

The partnership is aimed at helping both brands find “new audiences” and will comprise “modern, elevated basic” sold as “accessible” prices.

The collaboration will also see West “come full circle” given that he once worked for Gap as a teenager when he was growing up in Chicago.

“Since then, West has become a disruptive force across music, footwear, fashion, architecture and more,” reads a statement from Gap.

“This new partnership will introduce both the Gap and YEEZY brands to new audiences,” it adds.

The clothing line will feature items for men, women and children.

According to Gap, that creative process is “just getting underway”.

Yeezy, which West launched in 2015 in collaboration with Adidas, was recently valued at $2.9 billion (£2.3bn).

West has previously said he wants to be the “Steve Jobs of the Gap”.

Speaking about the new partnership with Gap, Mark Breitbard, global head of Gap Brand, commented: “We are excited to welcome Kanye back to the Gap family as a creative visionary, building on the aesthetic and success of his Yeezy brand and together defining a next-level retail partnership.”

The Yeezy Gap line will launch online and in Gap stores in 2021.
