From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Several handbag companies are trying to stake a claim in the perfume business these days, including Bottega Veneta and Jimmy Choo, who are both rolling out debut scents in 2011. Judith Leiber is the latest to announce its foray into the fragrance industry.

Judith Leiber Night will hit beauty counter shelves starting in January at Bergdorf Goodman, Judith Leiber boutiques and online at judithleiber.com, with additional domestic and international retail points- including in the Middle East, Russia, Australia, and select European countries - planned throughout 2011.

The Art Deco-style perfume bottle is black with rhinestone accents and is modeled after Leiber's signature sparkly evening clutches. The perfume will come in two sizes: 40 ml for $140 and 75 ml for $198. The scent was concocted by the Geneva-based perfumer Firmenich and contains top notes of black cinnamon and bergamot, along with middle notes of jasmine, lilies and peonies, and hints of amber and patchouli.

The company previously rolled out a perfume in 2007, titled Judith Leiber after the Hungarian-born designer. Created by perfumer Karine Dubreuil, the oriental floral scent featured hints of Italian bergamot, mandarin leaves, pineapple, Turkish rose, white gardenia, jasmine, vanilla, musk and patchouli and cedar accords.

Judith Leiber is an iconic American brand: nearly every US First Lady dating back to 1953 has carried custom-made Judith Leiber bags to the Presidential Inauguration ceremonies. It is also a hit with young fashionistas, after a Judith Leiber jewel-encrusted cupcake-shaped bag was featured in the first Sex and The City movie.
