Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Remember when getting dressed up for Halloween just meant sticking on a witches hat or a pair of devil's horns? Nowadays costume expectations are sky high and a white sheet and black eyeliner unfortunately, just won't cut it.

For those not already in the know there's a wealth of resources out there ready and waiting to help transform you for the occasion, in the shape of Youtube tutorials.

There's a bevvy of very clever makeup artists who have made a living out of showing off their skills in step-by-step tutorials - usually these take the form of recreating a smoky eye or contouring but for Halloween there's endless videos to help you channel your inner zombie, skeleton, vampire etc.

And even better if you follow the steps, even those with less than proficient skills with a mascara wand will be able to recreate the looks.

Here are some of our favourites:

Lisa Eldridge does Marie Antoinette:

Michelle Phan does Skeleton Watchers of the Night

Julia Graf does scary vampire

Emma Pickles does sexy vamp

Promise Tamang Phan (Dope2111) does Queen of Darkness

Chloe Morello does a bleeding eye socket

Pixi Woo do Poison Ivy

Kandee Johnson does Edward Scissorhands

Jaclyn Hill does a glam zombie

Krystle Gohel does American Horror Story's White Nun
