Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. For many brides, the dress is a fundamental feature of a wedding day – but with the average cost of weddings skyrocketing to a whopping £27,161, it’s no wonder couples are looking for ways to cut back.
Luckily, the high street is listening to this new generation who don’t want to blow their life savings on saying “I do”. Thanks to the rise of affordable bridal collections, women everywhere can now walk down the aisle in dress that fits the budget.
Joining the likes of Whistles, Topshop, Asos and French Connection, H&M is the latest high-street store to launch an affordable range of wedding and bridesmaid dresses that won’t break the bank.
The range of dresses, accessories, footwear and beauty is specially designed for the bridal party and those blessed with invitations. Prices start as low as £2.99, with the most elaborate wedding dresses setting you back just £149.99.
A one-stop shop for everything from jewellery to flower girl outfits, bridesmaids can get their hands on a selection of pastel gowns in peach or powder blue, while other guests have the option of investing in trousers and peplum tops covered in fancy florals.
For brides, options span from traditional floor-length lace dresses to embroidered wrap styles and frill-trimmed Fifties-style gowns.
The entire collection is available online at www.hm.com now and carries both womenswear and childrenswear. Prices range from £2.99 to £149.99.
