Goop, the scoffed at by some but adored by others, brainchild of Gwyneth Paltrow is launching a magazine.

The online lifestyle publication, which was launched by the actress in 2008, will release its first print edition in September with further quarterly editions planned.

The magazine will be launched in collaboration with published Conde Nast which publishes magazines including Vogue, GQ, Glamour and Wired. The idea for the venture is rumoured to have been sparked by Paltrow and Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour who is also artistic director for the publishing company.

“Anna is a powerhouse, and one of the most admirable thought-leaders in media. Collaborating with her and Conde Nast on this multi-platform content partnership, anchored by Goop’s emergence into a physical entity, was an opportunity for us to push our boundaries visually and deliver Goop’s point of view to consumers in new, dynamic ways.”

Wintour said Paltrow has built “something remarkable” with Goop branding it “a thoroughly modern take on how we live today”.

Goop has long been a source of fascination and bemusement for many thanks to its memorable articles such as “How to yawn properly”, a recipe for a morning smoothie containing “sex dust” and advice on how to get rid of “plane germs” for a beauty routine. The website has also felt the wrath of gynaecologists on several occasions namely for articles featuring suggestions for women to steam-clean their vaginas and another involving putting stone eggs into the vagina.

But despite the, on occasion, bizarre advice the website has grown from strength to strength and Paltrow remains at the helm of the website almost a decade later – almost an unknown feat for a celebrity-turned-lifestyle guru – and has watched it grow from a solo endeavour launched in her kitchen to a 50+ team operation.
