Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

We Love: It's a wrap

Beautiful textiles and Liberty of London historically go hand in hand, so the department store is the perfect home for the London design duo Peter Pilotto to debut its exclusive silk scarf collection. £195, liberty.co.uk

We're not sure about: Twinkle toes

The Audit is usually all for a bit of kitsch embellishment, especially at this time of year ("the flashing earrings are a bit much, you say?"). But even it must admit that Nails Inc's bedazzled toenails are the wrong side of gauche – especially when prices start from £120.

We're buying: Take a hike

To celebrate its 30th anniversary, the hiking-boot impresario Merrell has launched an Originals collection. A prime example of a recurrent men's fashion theme, utilitarianism, 'Wilderness Canyon' is available in a run of just 30 from that temple of wonders, Dover Street Market. 020 7518 0680

We can't wait for: KARL by Karl

This collection really is the essence of the design king's rock'n'roll personal style, right down to the over-sized aviator shades and fingerless leather gloves. The predominantly black and white collection, which lands on net-a-porter.com on 25 January, aims to make luxury accessible with prices starting from £52.

We're bookmarking: Shacking up

Finding a bikini for an exotic out-of-season jaunt can be tricky, but a new site aims to make the process stress free with pieces from more than 50 chic summer and swimwear names, such as this Roksanda Ilincic bikini. £29, thebeachtomatoshack.com
