Who's your style icon?
My mom, my sister Michelle, my aunt Sandra and my daughter Violet.
What can't you live without?
I couldn't go without my annual trip to Venice, which I do with my daughter. She loves it as much as I do. We roam the quiet streets all day and get lost – so relaxing and such a divine city.
Describe the best outfit you have ever worn.
I really love to resurrect pieces from my past collections and wear them to fashion week parties. One of my favourites is a tie-dye velvet dress with a plunging back and a snake belt.
What's in your wardrobe?
A lot of my own label, Nanette Lepore, and quite a lot of vintage too, with a splash of Marni, Lanvin and Prada, which I think are beautiful modern takes on classic pieces.
What's in your handbag?
A pair of Paul Smith sunglasses, and a couple of Venetian gilded cases, a Serge Lutens lipstick and my trusty YSL mascara.
If you could live in any century style-wise, which would it be?
I think I would like to have lived in the 1930s and worn beautiful bias cut dresses all the time... They are my friend! So flattering and chic. The Thirties are a great mix of everyday glamour and something a bit more practical.
How often do you look in the mirror?
A few times, I guess, when I'm in the bathroom and while I'm getting dressed. But once I am ready to go and on my way out of the door though, I try not to look back. That way madness lies.
Any fashion confessions you want to share with us?
Collecting Bakelite bangles in bright and rainbow-ish candy colours. I have a huge collection of them, all carved and gorgeous. And the chunkier the better, I think.
