Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

What are you wearing right now?

I'm in my favourite relaxing gear: men's pyjamas and a long T-shirt, drinking a glass of wine, and giggling as I answer these questions.

Who's your style icon?

The beautiful Yasmin Le Bon. She is just so stylish – she never seems to make much of an effort, but always looks so chic, so well put-together and nicely individual.

What can't you live without?

Coffee? No, I suppose I've got to say my Bottega Veneta handbag – it contains my purse, my keys, basically my life, as well as all my family pictures.

Describe the best outfit you've ever worn.

It was an Alexander McQueen dress that I wore for my best friend's 40th birthday party a few years ago. I've never loved anything quite so much – I love dressing up and I felt very special in it.

What's in your wardrobe?

Jeans, Jeans, Jeans. I am obsessed with them. My favourite pair at the moment is my J Brand boyfriend jeans. It's such a casual but glamorous look, and one that I love, plus they go so easily with my other passion, gorgeous knitwear. I love the American brand, Vince.

What's in your make-up bag?

Eyelash curlers! They look painful but I'm a die-hard user and never go anywhere without them. I like my lashes to look as full as possible, so my eyes look that bit bigger and wider. I also use Dior mascara and a Nars red lipstick – I swear by both of these.

If you could live in any century, style-wise which would it be?

This century, of course! You can be yourself, as there are no rules, and wear whatever you like. It's such a creative time. However some days I wished we hadn't invented the Blackberry!

How often do you look in the mirror?

I find that I'm forever looking in the mirror, as I am always trying on samples from brands that we're thinking about buying to sell in the store, or helping the customers. But I'm not looking at myself then. Well, alright, yes I am.

Any fashion confessions you want to share with us?

None that there is any photographic evidence of, thank God! Just don't ask my sister for her bridesmaid photos please. Even the thought of it makes me shudder.
