Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

What are you wearing right now?

White jeans by CC, a ‘peace’ graphic T-shirt and a ‘peace, love and an open heart’ necklace. I’m feeling very peaceful today!

Who’s your style icon?

Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly. They were both classic beauties with effortless style; everything they wore was extremely elegant and timeless.

What can’t you live without?

A simple block colour shift dress. Also my treasured black patent Cole Haan heels which have Nike Air insoles – I wonder how I ever survived without them.

Describe the best outfit you have ever worn.

My wedding dress was peach silk and organza by David Emanuel. Stunning – it made me feel like a princess.

What’s in your wardrobe?

Clothes dating back from the early 1700s to the present day, as well as costumes from every TV show and film I have ever been in! I also have lots of brightly coloured jeans and T-shirts, which are great for everyday dressing in LA.

What’s in your make-up bag?

Lancôme moisturiser, MAC eye pencil, Chanel and Guerlain lipsticks.

If you could live in any decade, style-wise which would it be?

The 1940s. Fashion was very dramatic and feminine back then.

How often do you look in the mirror?

Once in the morning, and then whenever I am in the bathroom!

Any fashion confessions you want to share with us?

I once wore a multi-coloured, fully beaded, skin-tight Versace catsuit to a premiere. It belonged to Donatella and was loaned to me for the event, although it was beautiful and looked great on her, it made me look like some ridiculous wannabe Cher.

What’s your secret style tip?

Invest heavily in colour, especially if you are over 50. It makes such a difference to the way you look and feel.
