From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The luxury British footwear label has designed five different styles of low and high-tops featuring the brand’s most popular details, including the kitten and the spider web, widening its shoe offering to luxe trainers.
The capsule collection comes in gold, black and white leather, leopard pony hair, and baby pink silk satin.
“Charlotte Olympia is an impressively talented designer, the creativity and attention to detail of her collections have meant the brand has grown from strength to strength and developed into a real powerhouse,” said Jasmin Sanya, International & Contemporary Shoe Buyer at Harvey Nichols.
“We are thrilled to be stocking her debut sneaker collection exclusively at Harvey Nichols, they are the ultimate luxury trainers.”
The price tag of each pair is set to be similar to those of the label’s popular Kitty loafers, ranging between £345 and £495.
The luxe trainers are exclusive to Harvey Nichols London and will be available to buy in-store and online from April 2015.
