Clinique launches colourful lipstick collaboration with Marimekko
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. From its Crayola collection to last year’s launch with interior designer Jonathan Adler, Clinique is well known for its quirky collaborations and its latest venture is no exception.
This time around the beauty brand has joined forces with Marimekko – a Finnish design house that rose to fame in the 1960s and is revered for its vibrant, fun-loving aesthetic.
But, what really makes this such an amazing partnership is the fact that both brands were founded by pioneering female entrepreneurs who wanted to create products that encouraged women to be bold and embrace uniqueness.
As such, their meeting of minds has resulted in a lust-worthy mash-up of Marimekko’s graphic patterns and Clinique’s everyday beauty essentials.
Bringing to life original designs by Annika Rimala – Marimekko’s most prominent designer in the 1960s and 1970s – the capsule collection sees Clinique’s products housed in beauty packaging heaven.
“This collection captures the quintessential modern aesthetic of Marimekko and the bright vibrancy of Clinique to inspire and empower women by bringing the joy of possibilities to her every day,” says Jane Lauder, Clinique global brand president.
So what does it include?
There are two lip products to choose from with a total of 30 lipsticks and glosses decked out in archival prints.
The first is the Pop Splash Lip Gloss and Hydration, which comes in 20 water-light shades. The formula is jam-packed with hydrating ingredients that promise to leave your lips feeling seriously pampered while also gilding them with a high shine that doesn’t feel sticky.
Alternatively, you can pick up the Lip Colour and Primer, which comes in 10 juicy shades. A Clinique classic, this option will also keep your lips comfortably moisturised but with a velvety-smooth finish and bold, saturated colour.
The Marimekko for Clinique Limited Edition Collection will be available online, in stores and at Clinique retailers from February.
