From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The annual event hosted by the fashion magazine saw key figures from the world of fashion, film, music and sport come together to celebrate their achievements.
Stars in attendance included Victoria Beckham, Reese Witherspoon, Selena Gomez and Caitlyn Jenner.
Jenner made only her second major red carpet appearance (her first was at the ESPY awards earlier this year), she was in attendance to accept the Transgender Champion Award.
For the red carpet occasion Jenner opted to wear a royal blue and black wrapover gown by Moschino.
The other major winner on the night was Victoria Beckham who was also honoured with an award for her work in fashion and philanthropy.
But Beckham, who was dressed in a red gown from her own label was somewhat overshadowed by a member of her own family - eldest son Brooklyn who had the job of presenting the award.
Beckham had this to say on receipt of the accolade:
“It started with The Spice Girls and girl power. If I can do it, anyone can do it" she said.
“I want to make a woman feel like the best version of herself.”
