Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

The nominees for the annual British Fashion Awards have this morning be announced with all the usual suspects present.

The awards ceremony celebrates the very best in British fashion - from designers and brands to models and campaigns.

Christopher Kane, J.W. Anderson and Victoria Beckham are nominated for Womenswear Designer of the year, while Alexander McQueen, Anya Hindmarch, Burberry and Stella McCartney will battle it out for Brand of the Year.

The hotly contested Model of the Year category includes Georgia May Jagger, Jourdan Dunn and Malaika Firth.

Molly Goddard gets her first nomination alongside Faustine Steinmetz and Thomas Tait for the Emerging Womenswear Designer category.

The 2015 event will be held at the usual venue at the London Coliseum on 23rd November and will be hosted by British comedian Jack Whitehall.

"The annual event is fast becoming one of the highlights of the global fashion calendar. The awards recognise the incredible talent we are so fortunate to work with and celebrates the excellence and creativity within our industry both at home and abroad." Commented Natalie Massenet MBE, Chairman of the BFC.
