The new range aims to challenge the stereotypes facing young breast cancer patients

Online community GirlvsCancer is launching a new range of t-shirts dedicated to breast cancer patients and survivors.

With one in eight women diagnosed with breast cancer each year, it’s a disease that has undoubtedly touched many of our lives, including that of 32-year-old blogger Lauren Mahon of Girl Stole London.

After being diagnosed with a cancerous lump in her right breast in 2016, Mahon began documenting her experiences under the hashtag #girlvscancer on both her blog and Instagram.

Here, she recalled candid accounts of her treatment in an attempt to ditch the perception that cancer is a disease solely experienced by the over fifties until GirlvsCancer became it’s very own movement.

A website and two successful t-shirt launches later, Mahon is commendably tackling stereotypes surrounding cancer patients and survivors and her latest project is no exception.

Continuing on the success of previous launches, GirlvsCancer has announced it’s latest range of ‘Tit-Tees’ with the Have Heart Collection.

Designed by Dom&Ink, the new t-shirts are intended to be worn by breast cancer patients and survivors to represent the breast or breasts that are affected.

A choice of three, the plain white tees come emblazoned with a heart over wither the left, right, or both breasts.

Accompanied by a campaign that features a group of breast cancer patients and survivors who Mahon became close to during her own treatment, it is hoped that the collection will raise awareness of the importance of self-checking.

Just like previous launches, 25 per cent of profits from the Have Heart Collection will be distributes equally between four charities – Coppafeel!, Trekstock, Future Dreams and Look Good Feel Better – to ensure they continue to beat the cancer taboo.

GirlvsLondon’s Have Heart Collection launches online on World Cancer Day, Sunday 4 February.
