The celebrities offered to donate their accessories for an online charity auction to be held on the French website instantluxe.com. All profits from the sale will benefit the non-profit organization Paris Tout P'tits, which provides food and hygenic products for disadvantaged babies. The Paris Tout P'tits/InstantLuxe charity auction is now in its second year. Last fall, French celebrities Claire Chazal and Laetitia Hallyday were among those who donated their jewelry, bags and other accessories for the initiative.
Auction bids for this year's event will start at 100 euros ($132 USD). To participate, Web users must first become a member of the site by registering basic information like their name, address, and email.
InstantLuxe, founded in 2009, is an online marketplace for certified authentic luxury goods and operates in the same manner as its direct competitor, the French site VestiairedeCopines.com. Both platforms allow individuals and professionals to buy and sell second-hand goods, including jewelry and handbags, from upscale brands. Recurring sales on InstantLuxe revolve around gently used Hermès, Chanel and Louis Vuitton bags and Rolex watches.
Aside from the Paris Tout P'tits event, InstantLuxe doesn't host any other charity auctions on its site. Conversely, there are several web platforms that specialize in selling celebrity memorabilia for a good cause. For example, The Clothes Off Our Back regularly hosts online auctions of clothing worn by celebrities like Julianne Moore, Rachel McAdams, and Lisa Loeb. Items are put up for bid to the public with proceeds going to benefit children's charities.
