From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Copenhagen Fashion Council has announced it will stage a larger-than-life fashion show, featuring 200 models and an audience of 100,000 people, during its fashion week in August.

The city's longest shopping street, Strøget, between City Hall and Kongens Nytorv, will be transformed into the world's "longest outdoor catwalk ever seen," according to a press release.

Details as to what creations will be shown haven't been released yet, but the council has come up with a special way of marketing the event: together with modeling agency Elite, it will choose one aspiring model per participating country to participate in the parade. Eligible countries include Sweden, Norway, Spain, Italy, Germany, Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Finland, the UK, Ireland, and Denmark.

Candidates may apply via Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Copenhagen-Fashion-Council. All winners get to bring a friend for their free two-day trip to the Danish capital, which includes accommodation and fashion week party invitations.

Copenhagen Fashion Week takes place August 11-15.
