Now, if you’re the kind of guy who has a penchant for aftershave, chances are you’ll have quite a collection but there’s always room for one more, right?
Absolutely, but the tough decision here lies in which one to pick. Do you go for something crisp to reflect the winter chill, or a whiff that’s warm and reminiscent of cosy nights by the fire?
The choice is all yours but to help we’ve rounded up our favourite new season fragrance launches.
Comme des Garcons Concrete, £115, Selfridges
Comme des Garcons’ fragrances are always unique and their latest offering is no different. Named Concrete, the scent comes housed in an actual concrete bottle inspired by the streets of New York but luckily it doesn’t carry the same smell.
Featuring notes of cardamom, rose and musk, it is a surprisingly gentle smell that, thanks to its top notes of sandalwood, leaves a smoky signature trail.
L’Homme Prada Intense, £48.60-£83.25, John Lewis
A wintry flanker to L’Homme Prada, Intense contains many of the same notes as the classic version including amber and iris. That being said, though, this new fragrance has a seriously heightened potency thanks to the addition of powerful notes of cedar, patchouli and tonka beans for extra warmth.
Yves Saint Laurent, Y, £47.20, Feel Unique
A signature smell that promises to stand the test of time, Yves Saint Laurent’s Y has a clear duality that’s said to represent the personality of the modern man. Light and dark in equal measure, top notes of geranium and white aldehydes offer a citrus smell while balsam fir incense and tonka bean create a strong and sensual base.
Armani, Stronger With You, £43, The Perfume Shop
With the launch of Stronger With You, Emporio Armani created two his or her scents with a female partner fragrance, Because It’s You. While the latter is bound by a sweet, floral composition, the male scent takes on classic notes of chestnut and sage that just scream autumn. The addition of smoky vanilla, pink peppercorn and violet leaves also give it a creamy, super-sensual quality.
Coach, Coach for Men, £28.50, The Fragrance Shop
A fragrance inspired by New York attitude and American authenticity, Coach for Men starts with an energetic top note of crisp and effervescent green nashi pear. That being said, a spicy burst of cardamom, vetiver and hints of suede make it more complex and add warmth.
Bvlgari, Man in Black Essence, £77, Harrods
A new statement of masculinity, Bvlgari Man in Black Essence is the newest fragrance from the Man in Black Collection. Defined by a play on contrasts, it contains notes of rum, musk, resin and guaiac wood to give it a sensual, oriental vibe.
