From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The undisputed queen of effortless style, Alexa Chung’s foray into fashion has seen her become the face of some of the world’s most recognisable brands, the launch of her eponymous label and several collaborations.

But there’s one area the It girl has overlooked, until now that is.

Having been a brand ambassador for Superga since 2011, Chung has injected her signature British style into the minimalist Italian brand by creating her very own exclusive capsule collection.

‘My mother wore Supergas when I was growing up so for me they’ve always been a classic shoe,’ Chung says

“It has been wonderful to return to this brand as a designer working on a collaboration for this season because in the past Superga were one of the first companies to let me art direct a campaign for them. It feels a lot like coming home,” Chung says.

“My mother wore Supergas when I was growing up so for me they’ve always been a classic shoe and something I have incorporated into my daily wardrobe for years now.”

For spring/summer 2018, the fashion designer, model and TV presenter has reinterpreted classic Superga silhouettes – including the 2750, mid-cut and mule styles – to create shoes that people really want to wear.

Available in different textures and colours, Chung has refreshed the ageless trainer to capture the essence of the new season, adding fabrics like varnish, satin, cotton and terry towel in shades like off-white, burgundy, green and sky blue.
