Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

BIG HEAD STUCK ON HER WARDROBE

THINGS are looking up - I get really excited when the clocks go back, or is it forward, I always get a bit muddled - anyway, when British summertime starts. I dream of long warm evenings outside the pub, running through the corn fields in a long, flowing dress - yeah right. But summer is on its way. The weather has already taken a turn for the better (well it had yesterday) and I don't know about you but I cannot wait to slip my tanned body into something a little more summery. Before I do, I'll have to sort out my wardrobe which I can't wait to do as I've just had the smartest walk-in wardrobes built, with flashing lights, piped music, full- length mirrors and mini bar, of course. I mean how can a girl dress herself without the assistance of a vodka and tonic? The point to all this, I hear you ask. Well, do you have a walk-in wardrobe? No, I don't suppose you do. That answer your question? OK, I'm showing off.

NOW SHE'S LIGGING AND COIFFING

Dragged myself to yet another shop opening last week - yes it's such a difficult life supping champers on a weekly basis. Moschino, whose shop on Conduit street I mentioned a couple of weeks ago, held a lavish affair - with easy-to-stash-in-the-handbag size bottles of champagne and an impressive celebrity turn-out for a mid-week soiree. I don't think Ruby Wax was too pleased when a friend of mine gushed how he loved her expose on Jerry Springer, she gave him her bestest sarcastic smile and thanked him. He was sincere Ruby, honest, he's your number one fan. The Queen's lookalike then bid us farewell and off we went, next stop the minimal Hempel hotel for the launch of cK watches - how exciting. Yes, as from this week the new watch collection will be available exclusively from the cK store on Bond Street and nationwide from 1 May (left). These stylish Swiss-made watches come in four basic lines to suit every personality. The Tech line is a stainless-steel sporty watch in four sizes. Minimal, on either a mesh bracelet or leather strap and water resistant to 30 metres. The Dress line, designed for women only, has a choice of black or white face with brushed matt gold or steel finish, and it's pretty cool. Last but not least, there is Versatility with three interchangeable nylon bracelets - fantastic. Prices range from pounds 80 to pounds 170. For stockist info call 01703 646 800.

EFFORTLESS STYLE

Hardly a week goes by without a new shop opening. This time it's British designers Press & Bastyan, whose label has been up and running for just four years. P&B have already opened a store at 22 South Molton Street, W1, and 22 Princes Square, Glasgow, with two more London stores set to open later this month. If you're the kind of person who wants to look like you haven't tried to create an effortless style, this is the perfect label for you. Simple tailoring combined with slinky knits or bias-cut dresses for day and evening. You can't go wrong. Enquiries: 01622 664032. Iceberg will be opening its flagship store at 10 Sloane Street, SW1, this May. The store will house the menswear and womenswear mainline collections, plus shoes, perfume, watches and crockery.

THE SERIOUS BIT

Fashion Targets Breast Cancer is the second campaign in aid of the charity Breakthrough Breast Cancer. This time all you have to do is buy yourself a "target" logo T-shirt (pounds 9.99) for a standard cotton style or pounds 12.99 for a cotton/Lycra fitted T-shirt. (modelled below by Yasmin le Bon and daughter). It's a small contribution for a charity committed to research into the causes of breast cancer, don't you think? The T-shirts are available from most high-street stores nationwide: Oasis, Principles, House of Fraser, Kookai, etc. If you can't stretch to that amount but would like to contribute anyway, Avon Cosmetics, who are supporting the charity, have produced a lapel pin which is available from all Avon reps for just pounds 1.00. For further info call the FTBC Hotline on 0845 6050400. Go on, stick your hand in your pocket and let's get a grip on this disease that kills 14,000 women a year in the UK.
