Fancy a shimmy, shake and shmooze? Then forget the 90's and get with the 80's. Rose Royce, Shalamar & The Real Thing begin their 20 date tour today in Hastings. Prompted by the sell-out success of last autumns 80's Greatest Hits Tour, it promises to have you dancing in the aisles with some classic hits found in adverts and on karaoke machines - Car Wash, Wishing On A Star, A Night To Remember (and you know the rest). Brink promises to inspire some pre-millennium weirdness. Described as a `promenade spectacle', (go and see to understand), it has been influenced by sources as diverse as The Lottery in Babylon by Argentine writer Jorge Luis Borges, and Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. And from a lady who knows quite a lot about mixing art forms, there is the chance to see Rickie Lee Jones in concert with the material from her new album, Ghostyhead. Students of literature should be alerted to Sam Mendes talk about Othello. The 32-year old has just made his festival debut with a production of Shakespeare's Othello, staged in a converted salt factory. Mendes makes an interesting interpretation by using the text as a reference to 1940's British colonialism - which should prove to the teachers that you haven't just learnt it parrot fashion.
