Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Damp and dingy it may be, but mid-June has clearly inspired events organisers all over the capital to make the most of the summer, as a rash of festivals break out around town this week. Among them is the Festival of Central European Culture - a season of special events around the city, which starts tomorrow. The Festival, which celebrates the diversity of artistic styles and talent from across Central Europe, features a host of performances from all over the musical spectrum, as well as exhibitions (such as "Twenty Years of Graffiti Documentation Europe", left), theatre and dance, talks and film events. This week's highlights include Monday's "Opening Concert" at the Barbican Centre, featuring the Austro-Hungarian Haydn Orchestra; "Sensitivities: Contemporary Art from Central Europe" (from 24 Jun) and Lorca's Blood Wedding at the Bloomsbury Theatre, performed by gypsy theatre company Pralipe (tomorrow and Mon, 7.30pm).

Venues around London (info: 0171-388 8822) tomorrow to 12 Jul
