Emma Watson has posted a sweet throwback photograph on social media of herself with J.K. Rowling to celebrate the author’s 54th birthday.

On Wednesday, the 29-year-old posted a photograph on Twitter and Facebook of herself dressed as the comic book character Wonder Woman alongside Rowling and Harry Potter actor Evanna Lynch.

In the image, Rowling – who shares the same birthday as the fictional protagonist Harry Potter she wrote about in her internationally successful literary series of the same name – wears a black halter neck dress and prosthetic make-up with a fake horn.

Meanwhile, Lynch – who stars as Luna Lovegood in the Harry Potter film franchise – sports a green dress with spaghetti straps and wearing feline-inspired make-up.

“Sexy and scary! You smashed this,” Watson captioned the photo of the trio. “All the love to you @jk_rowling. Happy Birthday!!!! Extra points to @Evy_Lynch for being the most perfect cat [sic].”

The actor, who is also a UN Women Goodwill ambassador, played the role of Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter film series from 2001 to 2011.

The author and women’s rights activist have professed their admiration for each other on several occasions over the years.

After learning that the hashtag for her gender equality initiative #HeForShe received a special emoji on Twitter in 2016, Watson took to social media to share the news with her fans, prompting a congratulatory message from Rowling.

“Nice emoji! You’re an inspirational woman x,” wrote the author.

“RIGHT back at you. thank you for everything xx [sic],” the actor replied.

In 2014, Watson defended Rowling’s comments after she admitted that she regretted pairing up characters Granger and Ron Weasley in her fantasy novels.

“I wrote the Hermione/Ron relationship as a form of wish fulfilment,” the author told Watson in an issue for Wonderland magazine, much to the dismay of her fans.

The actor jumped to Rowling’s defence after she received backlash from fans for suggesting the pair shouldn’t have ended up together in the book, telling MTV: “It was a real shame, because the quote that she gave was completely taken out of context."
