Your support makes all the difference.Davina McCall has been praised on social media for her response to an online troll who told her she was too “wrinkly” to wear the gown she wore on Saturday’s episode of The Masked Singer, on which she is a judge.
Ahead of the programme, the 53-year-old shared a photograph on Twitter of herself in a white polka dot dress from Retrofete that featured spaghetti straps and a thigh-high slit.
“Tonight’s dress for @MaskedSingerUK on @ITV at 7 pm is from @Retrofete... hair by @mdlondon and make up by #cheryphelpsgardiner,” McCall wrote in the caption.
While thousands of people replied to McCall’s tweet with praiseworthy comments, one person shared it alongside the caption: “Old over sun-kissed woman should cover up ... stunning dress but not for the wrinkly crinkly... demure for the mature.”
The comment sparked a furore on Twitter as many users rushed to McCall’s defence.
“@ThisisDavina looks incredible!” replied one person. “I’ve always admired her style, wit, adventure and warmth. Please don’t drag people down because they’re living their best them.”
Another added: “Firstly-Davina looks stunning, secondly - please try and have a lovely day and try not to be so negative. We all don’t really know each other, so just be kind. It can make someone’s day!! Have a great day!”
Then, McCall herself chimed in, replying: “Really sorry. Absolutely no chance of demure over here sue... growing old disgracefully is far more fun.”
The TV presenter’s response has prompted more than 10,000 likes and hundreds of comments, including one from comedian David Baddiel, who wrote: “You look fabulous obviously. Sue, meanwhile, looks - if you check her TL, joined Jan 2020, entirely trolling - like a bot.”
