Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Match.com asked over 5,000 single people in the US what they valued most in dating profiles - with good grammar rated more important than a partner's confidence or their teeth.
People judged their date on their grammar more than their confidence or teeth
Behind personal hygiene - which was seen as most important for 96 per cent of women and 91 per cent of me - 88 per cent of women and 75 per cent of men said they judged a potential partner by their grammar.
84 per cent of women and 69 per cent of men said they would judge a date for low confidence, while 81 per cent of women and 67 per cent of men said they would judge someone for their teeth.
Proofreading company Grammarly has previously found that a man with two spelling mistakes in his online dating profile was 14 per cent less likely to receive a positive response than those who make none.
